兵庫県西宮市名塩地区で生産される和紙。室町時代から続く歴史を持ち、楮（こうぞ）を原料とした「鳥の子紙」の名産地として発展してきた。しなやかで丈夫な名塩和紙は障子紙・表具紙・包装紙として広く使われ、六甲山系の清流と良質な土壌が和紙づくりの環境を支えてきた。近世には大坂周辺への供給地として需要が高まり、兵庫の伝統産業として今日まで受け継がれている。
Nashio Washi is Japanese paper produced in the Nashio district of Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture. With a history dating to the Muromachi period, it developed as a famous production area for 'torinoko-gami' (high-quality kozo paper) using kozo as raw material. Supple and durable Nashio Washi has been widely used for shoji paper, mounting paper, and wrapping paper, with the clear streams and fertile soil of the Rokko mountain range supporting the paper-making environment. In the modern era, demand grew as a supplier to the Osaka region, and it continues to be passed down as a traditional industry of Hyogo Prefecture.
