Kyo sashimono is a collective term for wooden crafts produced in Kyoto. With traditions dating to the Muromachi period, it features precision "sashimono" joinery techniques that combine wood without nails. It produces wooden items closely linked to the tea ceremony and Japanese culture, such as tea utensils, tea boxes, incense containers, drawers, and shelves. Embodying the refined aesthetic sensibility of Kyoto culture, it is prized for the beauty of its wood grain and precision joinery.
