工芸品について
山梨県甲府市で生産される鹿革に漆で模様を付けた革工芸品。江戸時代後期には既に財布や巾着の素材として広く親しまれ、滑稽本「東海道中膝栗毛」にも甲州印伝の巾着が登場するほど知られていた。燻した鹿革に型紙で漆を摺り付けて模様を施す技法が独特で、軽くて丈夫な鹿革と漆文様が一体となった財布・バッグ・小物が代表的な製品。現在も甲府市の印伝屋を中心に伝統が守られている。
Koshu Inden is a leather craft from Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, featuring deer hide decorated with lacquer patterns. Said to have been founded in the early Edo period by Inden-ya (Uehara Yushichi) in Kofu, it is known as a craft associated with Takeda Shingen's Koshu. The technique is unique: deer hide is smoked and softened, then lacquer patterns are applied using stencils. Representative products include wallets, bags, and small accessories combining the lightweight durability of deer hide with lacquer patterns. The tradition continues today centered on Inden-ya in Kofu.
