山梨県甲府市で生産される手彫り印章（はんこ・印鑑）。甲州水晶の加工技術が根付いた甲府の職人技術が印章彫刻にも展開され、江戸時代後期から産地として発展してきた。職人が一点一点手彫りで文字・文様を彫る細密な技術と、水晶・黒水牛・柘植など多様な素材使いが特徴の高級手彫り印章産地として全国に知られる。機械彫りとは一線を画す手彫りの温かみと精緻さが、官公庁・法人・個人の重要印として根強い需要を支えている。

Koshu Tebori Insho are hand-carved seals (hanko/inkan) produced in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The craftsmen's skills rooted in the processing of Koshu crystal were also applied to seal carving, developing as a production area from the late Edo period. Known nationwide as a high-quality hand-carved seal production area, characterized by intricate techniques of hand-carving characters and patterns one by one, and the use of diverse materials including crystal, black water buffalo horn, and boxwood. The warmth and precision of hand carving that sets it apart from machine carving continues to support steady demand for important seals used by government offices, corporations, and individuals.
