About Kyo Kinko
Kyo kinko is a collective term for metalwork produced in Kyoto. Since the Heian period, metalwork covering a wide range including Buddhist implements, accessories, and tea ceremony utensils has been created. It features diverse techniques including forging, engraving, casting, and lost-wax casting, along with sophisticated alloy techniques using gold, silver, copper, and brass. It is a comprehensive production center for dignified metalwork born from Kyoto's cultural and religious heritage.
