兵庫県西脇市を中心とする北播磨地域で生産される先染め綿織物。1792年（寛政4年）頃に始まったとされる国内最大の先染め綿織物産地で、年間生産量は国内シェアの約60%を占める。シャツ地・ブラウス地・テキスタイルとして国内外に輸出され、海外のアパレルブランドにも採用されている。多彩な縞・格子・ジャカード柄の先染め織物が特徴。
Banshu ori is a pre-dyed cotton textile produced in the Kitaharima region centered around Nishiwaki City, Hyogo Prefecture. Said to have begun around 1792 (Kansei 4), it is Japan's largest pre-dyed cotton textile production area, accounting for approximately 60% of domestic market share. Exported domestically and internationally as shirt fabric, blouse fabric, and textiles, it has been adopted by overseas apparel brands. It is characterized by diverse pre-dyed textiles with stripes, plaids, and jacquard patterns.
