兵庫県但馬地方（豊岡市・朝来市周辺）で生産される絹のちりめん織物。江戸時代中期に丹後ちりめんの技術が伝わり独自に発展した絹の白生地産地。きめ細かいシボと上品な光沢が特徴の高品質なちりめんで、京友禅・加賀友禅など全国の染め工房に素材として供給される。山陰地方の山深い自然の中で育まれた絹織物の伝統が今日まで受け継がれている。
Tajima chirimen is a silk crêpe textile produced in the Tajima region of Hyogo Prefecture (around Toyooka City and Asago City). A silk white fabric production area that developed independently after Tango chirimen techniques were introduced in the mid-Edo period. A high-quality crêpe characterized by fine texture and elegant luster, it is supplied as base material to dye workshops nationwide including Kyo-yuzen and Kaga-yuzen. The tradition of silk textiles nurtured in the deep mountain nature of the San'in region continues to be passed down to this day.
