三条打刃物

新潟県三条市で生産される鍛造刃物。江戸時代初期の1600年頃、三条の農民が農閑期の副業として和釘の製造を始めたことが金属加工産地形成の起点とされ、その後鎌・鍬などの農具刃物へと発展した。燕三条地区の金属加工集積地の一翼を担い、現在は鑿（のみ）・鉋（かんな）などの大工道具のほか、包丁・鎌・鍬などの農林業用刃物まで幅広い鍛造刃物を生産。素材選びから熱処理・研磨まで職人の技術が結集した高品質な刃物産地として知られる。

Sanjo Uchihamono are forged bladed tools produced in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture. The formation of the metal processing production area is said to have originated around 1600 in the early Edo period when Sanjo farmers began making Japanese nails as a side business during the agricultural off-season, later developing into agricultural cutting tools such as sickles and hoes. As part of the Tsubame-Sanjo metalworking cluster, it now produces a wide range of forged blades including carpenter tools such as chisels and planes, as well as agricultural and forestry cutting tools including kitchen knives, sickles, and hoes. Known as a high-quality blade production area where craftspeople's techniques are concentrated from material selection through heat treatment and polishing.
