滋賀県高島市で生産される麻・綿の縮み織物。「近江縮」とも呼ばれ、強撚糸を使って織り上げた後に精練・湯もみすることで布面に独特のシボ（凹凸）を出す。このシボが肌への接触面積を減らし、優れた涼感をもたらすことから夏の定番素材として全国で愛される。国内最大の麻・綿縮み織物産地として、浴衣地・シャツ地・カジュアルウェア地を大量に供給している。

Takashima chijimi is a linen and cotton crinkle textile produced in Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture. Also called 'Omi chijimi,' it creates a distinctive textured surface (shibori) by weaving with tightly twisted threads and then scouring and hot-water kneading. This texture reduces contact area with the skin, providing excellent cooling, making it a beloved summer staple nationwide. As Japan's largest linen and cotton crinkle textile production area, it supplies large quantities of yukata fabric, shirt fabric, and casual wear fabric.
