工芸品について

東京都青梅市・あきる野市・福生市など多摩地域で生産される絹織物。「多摩の絹」として江戸時代から発展した絹産業で、青梅縞（おうめじま）と呼ばれる縞絹が特に有名。明治以降は力織機による近代化が進み、帯地・着物地・洋装素材として幅広く生産された。村山大島紬と並ぶ東京産の伝統的工芸品として、多摩地域の絹織物文化を代表する。

Musashino ori is a silk textile produced in the Tama region of Tokyo including Ome City, Akiruno City, and Fussa City. A silk industry developed from the Edo period as 'Tama silk,' it is particularly famous for striped silk called 'Ome shima.' After the Meiji era, modernization with power looms progressed, and it was widely produced as obi fabric, kimono fabric, and Western-style material. Alongside Murayama oshima tsumugi, it represents the silk textile culture of the Tama region as a Tokyo-produced nationally recognized traditional craft.
