About Echizen Forged Cutlery

Echizen forged cutlery is knives and cutting tools produced mainly in Takefu district, Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture. With over 700 years of history, it is said to have originated when swordsmith Chiyozuru Kuniyasu came down from Kyoto during the Nanbokucho period to make farm tools for peasants. Starting with agricultural tools like sickles and hoes, it now produces diverse cutting tools including kitchen knives, scissors, and pruning shears.
