About Koishiwara Ware
Koishiwara ware is produced in Toho Village, Fukuoka Prefecture. Founded in 1682 when the third lord of the Fukuoka domain brought potters from Imari, it is characterized by geometric patterns created through techniques such as "tobikanna" (skipping chisel), brush strokes, and poured glazes. It is highly regarded as functional pottery embodying the folk craft philosophy of "beauty in use."
