About Hagi Ware
Hagi ware is pottery produced around Hagi City in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Starting in 1604 when Mori Terumoto invited Korean potters, it was beloved by tea practitioners—ranked second only to Raku ware among tea bowls. Its muted pink and cream tones and the 'Seven Transformations of Hagi' (gradual changes with use) are its greatest charms.
