About Kyoto Ware / Kiyomizu Ware

Kyoto ware / Kiyomizu ware is the collective term for ceramics produced in Kyoto. Nonomura Ninsei established colored porcelain techniques in the Genroku era (1688-1704), followed by Ogata Kenzan's unique designs. Deeply connected to tea ceremony culture, it is characterized by elegant and delicate beauty. Many artists continue to blend tradition and innovation in this ceramics capital.
