About Aizu Hongo Ware

Aizu Hongo ware is ceramics produced in Hongo district, Aizumisato Town, Fukushima Prefecture. Said to have started around 1592 when potters invited by Gamo Ujisato began production—one of the oldest pottery areas in Tohoku. Both porcelain and earthenware are produced, ranging from white porcelain and sometsuke to iron-glazed ceramics.
