About Banshu Cutlery
Banshu cutlery is knives and tools produced mainly in Miki City and Ono City, Hyogo Prefecture. Developed from the Muromachi period as a production area for carpenter tools and agricultural implements. It is also said that smiths gathered from across Japan to rebuild after Toyotomi Hideyoshi's siege of Miki Castle (1578-80). Currently produces carpenter tools such as saws, chisels, and planes, as well as scissors and pruning shears.
