About Izushi Ware

Izushi ware is a porcelain produced in Izushi Town, Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture. Porcelain production began in 1784 following the local discovery of pottery stone. Known as the "home of white porcelain," it features milky white porcelain with underglaze blue painting and intricate carving and openwork. The refined white porcelain is sometimes called "Arita of the East, Izushi of the West."
