About Kaga Nui Embroidery
Kaga nui is a traditional embroidery craft passed down in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. One of Kanazawa's crafts alongside Kaga yuzen and Kaga maki-e, it is characterized by a technique of embroidering dimensional patterns on fabric using gold foil, silver foil, and silk thread. Fine embroidery with motifs of flowers, birds, and plants lavishly decorates kimono collars, obi, and Japanese accessories. Known as a dignified decorative craft nurtured by the culture of the Kaga domain's million-koku wealth.
