About Ohi Ware
Ohi Ware is a ceramic produced in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, begun in 1666 by a potter named Chozaemon (later Ohi Chozaemon) who was invited from Kyoto along with Ura Senke's 4th master, Senso Soshitsu, when the Kaga domain lord encouraged the tea ceremony. Characterized by a distinctive amber-brown glaze called 'ame-gusuri' and warm, hand-formed tea utensils. Still produced by the 11th generation of the Ohi family as the preferred ware of Ura Senke, embodying Kaga's tea culture for nearly 400 years.
