About Iga Ware
Iga ware is pottery produced in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, with origins in the Nara period. Its coarse clay and long firing process create a 'wabi-sabi' beauty beloved by tea practitioners. Currently known as both a tea ceramics and clay pot production area, practical cookware using the heat-resistant properties of Iga clay is also widely produced.
