About Kamo Kiri Tansu
Kamo kiri tansu is a paulownia wood chest of drawers produced in Kamo City, Niigata Prefecture. Paulownia chest production began in the Kamo area in the late Edo period, and today it is nationally known as "Kamo of paulownia chests." Paulownia is lightweight and regulates humidity, making it ideal for storing kimono and clothing. It is characterized by precise joinery and surface finishing by skilled craftspeople.
