About Osaka Butsudan (Osaka Buddhist Altar)
Osaka Butsudan are Buddhist altars produced mainly in Osaka City, Yao City, and Kashiwara City, Osaka Prefecture. Developed from the early Edo period, established as an industry in the Kawachi region where Jodo Shinshu temple towns (jinaimachi) are concentrated. As a gold altar production area, widely supplying temples and homes throughout the Kansai region. Characterized by a practical yet luxurious altar style fused with Osaka's merchant culture.
