About Tokyo Uchihamono
Tokyo uchihamono are forged bladed tools produced mainly in Adachi Ward and Katsushika Ward, Tokyo. Developing from the Edo period as a production center meeting the demands of carpenters and craftspeople, it is particularly known for producing carpentry tools (chisels, planes, and cold chisels) as well as kitchen knives and razors. With high-quality forge welding of steel and soft iron and sharpening techniques, it is a production center for professional tools valued for sharpness and durability.
