About Chita Momen
Chita momen is a cotton textile produced in the Chita Peninsula of Aichi Prefecture. Developed from the Edo period as a nationally renowned cotton production area alongside Mikawa cotton, it is particularly famous for its bleaching (sarashi) process for white cotton. Widely used as clean white bleached cloth for tenugui hand towels, yukata fabric, and undergarment fabric, it circulated nationwide as 'Chita sarashi.' The warm climate of the Chita Peninsula and sea breezes from Mikawa Bay are suited to bleaching work, making it a cotton textile production area known for high quality.
