About Ryukyu Kasuri
Ryukyu Kasuri is silk and cotton kasuri fabric produced mainly in Haebaru Town, Okinawa. With approximately 600 years of history from the Ryukyu Kingdom era, its distinctive geometric patterns reflect influences from Java, India, and China. About 600 kasuri patterns (Teisaji) are preserved, with each bolt taking weeks to months to complete. The vibrant colors and unique patterns embody Okinawa's rich culture.
