About Mino Washi Paper
Mino Washi is handmade Japanese paper from Mino City, Gifu Prefecture, with records dating to 702 CE. 'Thin yet durable' Mino paper became widespread as shoji (screen door) paper, still widely used for shoji screens, calligraphy, and lighting. Inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2014. The annual 'Mino Washi Akari Art Exhibition' in October attracts over 300,000 visitors.
