About Tosa Washi Paper
Tosa Washi is handmade Japanese paper produced mainly in Ino Town and Tosa City, Kochi Prefecture. With a history dating to the Heian period, it is produced using underground water from the crystal-clear Niyodo River. Using diverse raw materials including kozo, mitsumata, and ganpi, it produces a wide range from thin paper, calligraphy paper, and book paper to special-purpose washi. It ranks alongside Echizen Washi as a top production area by domestic volume.
