About Isesaki Kasuri
Isesaki kasuri is a silk kasuri (ikat) textile produced in Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture. Considered one of Japan's Four Great Kasuri alongside Kurume kasuri, Bingo kasuri, and Yumihama kasuri. It uses pre-dyed threads combined to create patterns, encompassing diverse techniques including board-clamp kasuri, print kasuri, and precision kasuri. Developed as a major industry in Gunma from the Edo through Meiji and Taisho eras, it continues to be produced today as kimono and obi fabric.
