About Noto Jofu Hemp Cloth
Noto jofu is a hemp textile produced in the Noto Peninsula centered around Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture. A traditional industry of Noto continuing from the mid-Edo period, it is known as a summer jofu made from hemp. Featuring simple vertical stripe and plaid designs, it is characterized by a cool feel and rustic texture. It is a hemp textile unique to Noto that has been cherished as summer kimono and yukata fabric.
