About Shiozawa Tsumugi
Shiozawa Tsumugi is silk fabric produced in the Shiozawa district of Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture. Inheriting the techniques of Echigo Jofu, it developed as a kasuri weaving using silk. Three types—Honshiozawa, Shiozawa Tsumugi, and Echigo Jofu—are designated as national traditional crafts under the 'Shiozawa production area.' Featuring snow bleaching and intricate kasuri patterns, its unique crisp texture and translucency make it ideal for summer kimono.
