About Shuri Ori
Shuri ori is a collective term for silk textiles woven in the Shuri district of Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. Developed around Shuri Castle, seat of the Ryukyu Kingdom, it incorporated diverse patterns and techniques from trade with China and Southeast Asia. It encompasses multiple techniques including hanagasuri, donton weaving, teshima, nitsuke, and rotton weaving, characterized by vibrant and intricate patterns.
