About Moka Momen Cotton

Moka momen is a cotton textile produced in Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture. With a history from the early Edo period, it is known as a plain cotton fabric primarily featuring vertical stripes and plaid patterns. A practical textile widely used for yukata, tenugui hand towels, and workwear, it is characterized by becoming softer with washing. Production continues today as a local industry of Moka City.
