About Ise Momen
Ise momen is a cotton textile produced in Tsu City (former Shiroko area), Mie Prefecture. With a history from the early Edo period, it became known nationwide as a souvenir sold to pilgrims visiting the Ise Shrines along the Ise road. Characterized by somewhat thick, sturdy striped and plaid patterns, it remains beloved as a comfortable everyday fabric that softens with washing.
